Demonstration case study

The founder

A teacher who saw the gap firsthand.

Rebecca Alston, a former 4th-grade teacher of eight years and a homeschool parent of two. She watched families in her community search for a small school that reads like a school — mixed-age, four-day week, real curriculum, and a teacher who knows every student.

The context

A 2,000-square-foot leased space adjacent to a community center in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Local private schools range $12,000–$18,000; homeschool co-ops charge $2,000–$3,500 — leaving a clear opening for a credible, mid-priced small school.

The starting point

The problem was not the mission. It was the architecture.

Riverbend had a mission, a space, and a nine-month runway — but the website read like a homeschool co-op, the only intake was a Contact form, and the $8,500 flat tuition undersold the market and ignored the NC ESA/PEP pathways.

The diagnostic

Launch Readiness Score: 34 to 84.

Seven categories, each scored out of 12. The audit named where Riverbend stood before the build, and where it landed after.

Three moves

What the audit found.

  1. 01

Rebuild the admissions funnel. The website had only a Contact form — no inquiry form, no tour script, no application, no decision letter template. This was Riverbend's number-one gap.

  2. 02

Rewrite the tuition page and financial model. The $8,500 flat tuition undersold the market and did not integrate the NC ESA/PEP pathways. The sliding scale existed verbally but was not documented.

  3. 03

Rewrite parent-facing copy site-wide. It read like a homeschool co-op. It needed to read like a school — especially in the About and Curriculum sections.

The build

What the Studio produced.

  • A defensible positioning statement and site-wide messaging.
  • A complete admissions funnel: inquiry form, automated response, tour script, application, decision letter, and deposit policy.
  • A tuition model with sliding-scale logic and ESA/PEP integration.
  • Full parent-facing website copy — homepage, About, curriculum, and tuition.
  • A 20-question parent FAQ.
  • A 30-day social launch plan and a 90-day launch calendar.
  • An open house run-of-show and a founder pitch.
  • A founder-facing enrollment dashboard.
Before and after

The 90-second version

Riverbend Microschool opens August 2026 in Pinehurst as a K-6 project-based school for 24 students. I taught 4th grade for eight years, homeschooled my own two children through the pandemic, and watched families in our community search for a small school that reads like a school — mixed-age, four-day week, real curriculum, and a teacher who knows every student. We are that school. Tuition is $8,500 with a sliding scale, and we accept the NC Opportunity Scholarship and PEP account. We are enrolling now.

Your school deserves the same treatment.

Riverbend started with a diagnostic. So can you. The 72-Hour Launch Audit is a standalone deliverable — you decide whether the Buildout is the right next step. If it is, the $1,500 is credited toward it.
